New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden announced recently that the country’s top officials will be taking a 20% pay cut for the next six months in recognition of citizens’ sacrifices due to the coronavirus. Arden said that the pay cut will apply to chief executives of government organizations, as well as government ministers. However, front-line workers such as medical staff will be exempt from the cuts.
