Georgia Governor Partially Reopens Georgia

April 21, 2020

Georgia governor Brian Kemp announced a new measure yesterday that will allow certain businesses to reopen as of Friday, April 24. Citing progress made by the state towards meeting Phase One criteria of the “Opening Up America Again” plan released by the White House Coronavirus Task Force, governor Kemp gave notice of permission to reopen to “gyms, fitness centers, bowling alleys, body art studios, barbers, cosmetologists, hair designers, nail care artists, estheticians, their respective schools, and massage therapists.”

The following Monday, dine-in services will be permitted at Georgia restaurants, and theatres and private clubs will be allowed to reopen. According to Kemp’s announcement, these businesses must adhere to Minimum Basic Operations, or a set of requirements including such measures as employee symptom screening, minimizing employees on-site, and ensuring that workers remain six feet apart.

Kemp further advised that jurisdictions statewide would be unable to set looser or tighter rules.
